What is a Flat Flange?
A Flat Flange, also known as a Flat Face (FF) Flange, is a type of pipe flange that has a flat sealing surface. This design ensures full contact with the gasket surface, which helps evenly distribute pressure when the flange is tightened. Flat flanges are typically used in low-pressure and non-critical piping systems, and are often connected to cast iron, galvanized steel, or fiberglass pipes. Unlike raised face flanges, flat flanges do not have a protruding ridge and provide a smooth contact surface for mating flanges.
